Why Does Making Grillz Take 7–10 Days?

Getting your custom grillz from Kensho Jewelry is easy — but it's not instant. Here's why the process takes the time it does, and what actually happens at each step.

Step 1: Consultation & Dental Impression — Day 1

You come in and we talk through your design: material (silver, 10K–18K gold), number of teeth, style. Then we take a 3D scan or plaster mold of your teeth.

This step has to be precise. 1mm off and the grillz won't fit. It can't be done remotely or rushed.

Step 2: 3D Design & Client Approval — Day 2–5

This is the longest step in the process — and intentionally so.

Our designer builds a full 3D model based on your scan and your vision. You review it, request changes, and we go back and forth until it's exactly what you want. Complex designs or multiple revision rounds can take up to 4 days. Only once you approve it does it go to casting.

Why does this take so long? Because once the piece is cast, the form is locked. No revisions after that point.

Step 3: Wax Printing & Casting — Day 6

The approved design gets printed in wax, then cast using lost-wax casting. Molten metal is injected under pressure into the mold.

This is the highest-risk step in the entire process. Porosity, shrinkage, incomplete fills — any defect means starting over from the wax print. This is why everything before casting has to be done right.

Step 4: Post-Cast Finishing — Day 7

The cast piece is removed, acid-cleaned, and inspected. Rough edges and surface defects are worked by hand. This step depends heavily on the craftsman's experience.

Step 5: Stone Setting & Polishing — Day 8–9

If your design has CZ or Moissanite stones, each one is set individually. Then the surface goes through multiple rounds of polishing — coarse to mirror finish. This is where the piece starts looking like jewelry.

Step 6: QC & Handoff — Day 10

The finished grillz is test-fitted against your original scan or mold and inspected one final time. If anything doesn't pass, it doesn't leave the studio.

What About 3-Day Rush Orders?

We offer a 3-day rush option. The materials and casting process are identical — what changes is the timeline compression. Design gets locked in one session, there's no buffer day if casting goes wrong, and finishing time is tighter. A rush surcharge applies.

Best suited for simple, plain designs where you already know exactly what you want.
